GLASS TEALIGHT WORKSHOP

If you're interested in learning about glass fusing, this workshop is a perfect starting point. Glass fusing is a technique where glass pieces are heated in a kiln until they melt and fuse together into a single piece. During the workshop, we'll discuss the properties of glass and its compatibility, which is essential for fusing glass. We'll also explore techniques for creating different effects using glass frits, stringers, and metals. I'll guide you through using glass paint to enhance your designs and achieve a bold aesthetic. Together, we'll create two glass tea lights.

The workshop runs from 10:00am to 1:00pm, with a coffee/tea break and refreshments provided. It's suitable for both beginners and those looking to improve their skills, and all necessary materials are included. Children aged 10 and above are welcome to participate with a parent or guardian. Please wear clothes that can get dirty and tie back long hair. Open-toed shoes are not allowed due to possible glass on the floor.  Children particularly love this workshop.

During the workshop, we'll start with a safety talk and orientation before examining samples of what we can achieve during the session. We'll discuss colour combinations, patterns, and the science behind glass fusing. Our goal is to begin designing and assembling the pieces before our break, which will include light refreshments. Please inform us beforehand of any allergies you may have. After the break, we'll cut the glass and arrange it onto the tile before placing it into the kiln for overnight firing. Your completed pieces will be available for collection approximately one week after the workshop.
